Material selection
The right material is about balance.
Our range includes solar-screening, insect-screening and vinyl options. You do not need to choose a material here. ShadeFX narrows the specification around how you want the space to feel and what you need the screens to do.
More open mesh preserves more view, light and airflow. A more protective specification places greater emphasis on screening. The actual balance depends on the material selected.
How does privacy change after dark?
Mesh screens can improve daytime privacy, but the effect changes with lighting. When your space is brighter than the area outside, visibility inward can increase. Tell ShadeFX whether privacy matters during the day, after dark or both so we can account for it in the specification.

Housing, side guides and finishes are coordinated with the surrounding space.
Custom-fit for openings up to 30' wide × 20' high.
- Your opening & structure
- We look at where the housing and side tracks will sit, the surfaces they attach to and where the screen will meet the bottom of the opening. Photos or plans are a helpful starting point; you do not need to resolve these details yourself.
- Power & control
- Wireless remote included. We review nearby power access and where the controls will be used. Any electrical preparation is confirmed with the installation scope; smart-home options can be discussed.
- Installation & support
- ShadeFX can coordinate installation or support you or your contractor. We confirm how the system will be mounted, what preparation is needed and who is responsible before work begins.

How do Retractable Screens perform in windy conditions?
Retractable Screens can help reduce wind moving into a covered outdoor space, creating a more sheltered environment when the screens are lowered. Performance varies with the screen material, opening and conditions. Screens should be retracted before high winds and operated within the limits provided for the system. ShadeFX Retractable Screens are not hurricane rated.
Do Retractable Screens provide protection from rain?
Certain screen materials can reduce wind-driven rain and help create a more sheltered outdoor space, but Retractable Screens are not intended to create a waterproof enclosure. Performance depends on the material selected, opening, installation and weather conditions.
What is the lead time for Retractable Screens?
Lead times vary based on the project, selected specification and installation requirements. Straightforward screen systems can often be manufactured in approximately two weeks, with delivery, site readiness and installation affecting the overall project schedule.
What maintenance and cleaning do Retractable Screens require?
Retractable Screens are designed for relatively simple routine care. Keep the housing, tracks and surrounding area clear of dirt and debris, and periodically inspect the screen material and moving components. Cleaning requirements vary by the selected fabric or mesh.
Does ShadeFX offer Retractable Screens in my area?
In most cases, yes. ShadeFX supports projects across North America and can determine the best delivery, installation and service approach based on your location. Projects outside North America can also be reviewed based on location and scope.
